Shadeport installation and repairs in Cape Town
A single shadeport costs R10,500 installed in Cape Town in 2026, a double shadeport R13,500 and a triple R17,500. Cantilever versions cost R18,900, R25,890 and R29,990. Waterproof fabric adds 15 to 25 percent to any of those figures. Every price below is what Shadeports Cape Town charges for a galvanised-steel structure with UV-warranted knitted netting, installed with concrete footings.
Span, steel specification, netting grade and site access decide the final written figure for a specific job. Each factor is broken down after the price list.
| Size | Typical footprint | Four-post installed | Cantilever installed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single (1 car) | ±3m × 6m | R10,500 | R18,900 |
| Double (2 cars) | ±5.5–6m × 6m | R13,500 | R25,890 |
| Triple (3 cars) | ±8.5–9m × 6m | R17,500 | R29,990 |
| Waterproof upgrade | any size | +15% – 25% on the netting price | |
| Re-netting existing frame | any size | ±50% of the new-install price | |

Span drives steel more than netting: a double bay needs heavier cross-members than a single, and anything past 6 metres of unsupported span brings thicker-wall tube or an extra upright. Per-bay cost falls as bays are added, which is why a double costs about 30 percent more than a single rather than double.
Standard frames use 76-millimetre galvanised uprights set in concrete footings of 400 to 500 millimetres. Cantilevers and coastal sites step up to heavier-gauge tube, and powder-coating in charcoal, white or green adds a small fixed amount per pole. Rust-through at the base is what kills cheap structures, so galvanising is not the line to save on in Cape Town's salt air.
A 95 percent UV-stabilised knitted HDPE net is the vehicle-protection standard and carries manufacturer UV warranties of up to 10 years. An 80 percent net trims a few hundred rand and suits walkways rather than parking. Colour choice does not change the price on stocked colours.
Core-drilling through existing paving, working on a slope, restricted machine access and long carry distances each add labour. None of them are visible in a phone estimate, which is why on-site measurement precedes every binding price.
Cantilever shadeports cost roughly 70 to 90 percent more than the same bays in four-post form: R18,900 against R10,500 for a single, R25,890 against R13,500 for a double. The rear uprights carry the whole roof as a lever, so the tube gauge, bracing and footing size all step up. What the premium buys is a post-free front edge: no pole strikes when parking, and an unbroken drive-through line for complexes and offices. The engineering behind that trade-off is covered under cantilever shadeports.
Waterproof fabric replaces the knitted net with a coated membrane that sheds rain to a run-off side, and it prices at 15 to 25 percent over the equivalent netting structure. On a double that means roughly R2,000 to R3,400 extra for dry vehicles through the Cape winter. Fabric options and drainage detailing are described under waterproof shadeports.
A sound steel frame never needs to be thrown away with its perished net. Re-netting prices at about half the equivalent new installation and puts a fresh UV warranty over the same bays; re-tensioning and cable replacement are cheaper still. Frame checks and storm-damage call-outs are described under shadeport repairs.
